Farm Worker and Educator  


Location: Jubilee Healing Farm – Hillsborough, NC  
Schedule: Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (16 hours/week; schedule subject to change due to seasonal weather shifts)  
Reports To: Business Owner  
Compensation: Orange County NC Living Wage of $17.65/hour+

Position Summary 
Jubilee Healing Farm is seeking a dedicated, reliable, creative, and collaborative Farm Worker and Educator to support the operations of our micro-farm and participate in our nature-based healing environment. This individual will help sustain farm productivity and also engage in meaningful interactions with mental health clients, supporting therapeutic farm-based activities alongside clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities 
Farm Operations:  
  - Carry out daily farm maintenance, including planting, weeding, mowing, bed preparation and harvesting  
  - Start seeds, support crop rotation, and  implement cover cropping plans  
  - Maintain and install basic irrigation systems  
  - Prepare and transport small harvests to community partners such as PORCH and TABLE  
  - Monitor farm health and anticipate seasonal needs

  - Other tasks as collaboratively identified by Jubilee Team and Leadership

Collaborative Planning & Communication:
  - Identify and prioritize farm tasks in collaboration with the business owner  
  - Maintain clear communication around progress, setbacks, and needed materials or tools  
  - Attend brief check-ins or team meetings as needed

Client-Facing Support:
  - Identify appropriate, meaningful farm tasks for mental health clients during farm programming hours  (1h per day)
  - Collaborate with clinical staff to support clients in task completion with a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach  
  - Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for diverse participants

Qualifications
- Experience with sustainable or small-scale farming, gardening, or landscaping 
- Comfort with physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions  
- Strong communication and collaboration skills  
- Patience and empathy in working alongside individuals with mental health challenges  
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and take initiative  
- Bonus: Experience with therapeutic horticulture, peer support, or nature-based healing

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, squat, kneel, and work with hands in soil  
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
